John Robinson, PE, CVS-Life
Certified Value Specialist and Senior Project Manager

 John Robinson is a Principal and Owner of Strategic Value Solutions, Inc.  He serves the firm as an Executive Vice President and Senior Project Manager.

John’s experience includes planning, design, value engineering and construction of public and private capital projects across the Continent.  Over 20 years of his career have been spent participating in and leading value engineering studies.  He has in excess of 300 VE studies to his credit on a very wide range of project types.  His education includes an engineering degree from the University of Missouri at Rolla and advanced training in value engineering.  He is a registered professional engineer and a Certified Value Specialist (the highest level of certification in value engineering).

John’s value engineering study experience on water and wastewater projects includes new plants from a few mgd to 400 mgd, plant expansions and process upgrades, pump stations, pipelines, tunnels, and more.  John’s value engineering study experience on transportation projects includes city streets, state highways, U.S. highways, interstate highways, major urban interchanges, rural highway interchanges, two-lane to eight-lane bridges, railroad bridges, major river crossings, railroads, and airport facilities.   Beyond that, John also brings the experience of a diversity of projects related to flood control, hazardous materials facilities and hazardous waste remediation, a wide variety of military projects, and buildings for schools, health care, correctional facilities, historic restoration, vehicle maintenance, and barracks.  The sizes of these projects and programs that John has conducted VE studies on have ranged from a few hundred thousand dollars in capital costs to as high as $40 billion.


Korene Robinson, PE, LEED AP, AVS
Principal and Owner

Korene Robinson is a Principal and Owner of Strategic Value Solutions, Inc.  She serves the firm as President.

Korene’s experience began with the Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District evaluating and negotiating construction claims for over 12 years on projects as diverse as dismantlement of missile silos to construction of family housing units.  She then took a position as Senior Project Engineer/Administrative Contracting Officer at the Corps Fort Leavenworth Area Office, overseeing military construction projects, civil works projects, and environmental restoration projects.  During this time, she was the project engineer for such projects as construction of $250 million channel widening project and construction of the world’s deepest permeable wall. During her tenure with the Corps, she negotiated contracts, as well as modifications to those contracts and was instrumental in resolving several multi-million dollar claims against the Government.  She provided CPM scheduling support to the Corps field offices. 

After leaving the Corps Korene has been operating her own company, providing litigation support, cost engineering support, and participating in Value Engineering studies.    


Jeff Rude, CVS
Certified Value Specialist

Mr. Rude has been working as an independent Value Specialist since 2003 helping public sector and private organizations manage and improve the value of their projects and ongoing operations. 

Jeff began his value work while spending five years meeting and working with prominent visionaries, consultants, and business professionals throughout the United States and Europe.  From these experiences, he learned many concepts and techniques that can be combined to enhance a company’s potential for increased value, focused strategic growth, and improved decision-making.

Jeff has facilitated and been a part of many value improvement workshops for a host of diverse clients including the City of New York, the City of Seattle, the City of Phoenix, the City of Lille, the US Army Corps of Engineers, Le Creuset, Acteos Software, Thomas Greens Grocers, Price Minister and many others.  He is an adjunct professor at the Lille Graduate School of Management in France and a Certified Value Specialist.


Armand Della Monica, PMP, AVS

Armand is a Managing Partner of SVS and a co-developer of the original application of the Value Engineering methodology to the private equity investment model.

For the past nine years prior to joining SVS, Armand was an operating partner in the private equity industry, employing his many years of industrial and technology leadership experience to help establish a transformational, value-based process orientation within the investment firm and its portfolio companies.

Armand has enjoyed a diverse career of senior executive roles in technology and consulting for Fortune 100 companies, including: Senior Program Executive & Partner, Delivery Excellence, with IBM Global Business Services; Corporate Vice President, Program Management & Six Sigma, for AlliedSignal/Honeywell International; Vice President, Program Management, International Space Station Program, and Chief Engineer, F-14 Aircraft Programs, at Northrop Grumman.

Armand is an accomplished systems engineer and veteran program manager, with a deep background in successfully developing and delivering large complex mission systems. His broad global consulting experience has further qualified him as a subject matter expert in turnaround operations, customer relationship management, business process transformation, and delivery excellence.

 


Michael Propen, AVS

Michael is a Managing Partner of SVS, with extensive technical leadership experience in industrial, aerospace, and automotive businesses.

Over the past 30 years, he has held senior executive positions with global Fortune 100 corporations.  For the past seven years, Michael has been an operating partner in private equity focused on industrial and technology sectors, working with the leaders of the portfolio companies to help drive growth and productivity. 

 Prior to his role in private equity, Michael was Corporate Vice President, Technology & Program Management for Honeywell International.  He was previously Vice President, Technology & Business Development for AlliedSignal’s Automotive Products Group, Vice President of Engineering at AlliedSignal Engines, and Vice President of Engineering and Quality at Textron Lycoming.

Michael received a B.A. in Physics/Mathematics from Queens College, a B.S. in Aeronautics from New York University, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Technological University, and an M.B.A from the University of New Haven.  He has served on the board of Sermatech International and is currently on the board of Quest-Global, Inc.


Bob Rude, PE, PLS, CVS-Life
Certified Value Specialist

Bob’s professional career includes over 40 years of experience in the planning, design, value engineering and construction of public and private capital projects across the continent.  For the past twenty years he has been devoted to participating in and leading value engineering studies.  His experience includes more than 300 value studies on a very wide range of project types. 

Bob’s value engineering study experience includes roads, bridges, water and wastewater facilities, transit facilities, airport facilities, and drainage facilities, as well as buildings for schools, libraries, museums, airports, health care, prisons, vehicle maintenance, barracks, and housing.  His varied project VE experience also includes more unusual projects such as the lead-based paint removal program for several bridges in the City of New York and his pioneering work in the application of VE at the earliest stages of concept planning of capital projects.  The sizes of these projects and programs that Bob has conducted VE studies on have ranged from a few hundred thousand dollars in capital costs to as high as $8 billion.

He is a registered civil engineer, registered professional land surveyor and a Certified Value Specialist (the highest level of certification in value engineering).  Upon completion of his oral examination, Bob will also be registered as an architect.  This diversity of experience and training ensures that Mr. Rude thoroughly understands the technical aspects of almost any type of project he undertakes.


Robert Prager, PE, CVS
Certified Value Specialist

 Robert Prager is a Value Engineering Specialist for Strategic Value Solutions, Inc and an expert in water resource projects.  Mr. Prager has 33 years of experience as a civil engineer and soil mechanist practicing in the earth sciences. He is experienced in management and design of major projects from designing, evaluating and siting hydro-electric powerplants to large watershed studies including geomorphic analysis, watershed inventory, scheduling, and maintenance of relationships with clients, agencies, consumers and contractors. He leads watershed studies, designs stream restorations, and applies his experience from analysis, design and construction to research. Recent advances include the development of ARCGIS/GPS-based tools to rapidly acquire and analyze fluvial geomorphic data on a watershed scale. Part of the analysis is the development of erosion hazards maps for urban watersheds based on the results of fluvial geomorphic analysis and HEC-RAS. He developed analytical methods for determining bole length for root wads and methods for mechanized construction of planted riprap. His design experience ranges from wildland rivers to highly urbanized streams. His design approach is grounded in engineering, fluvial geomorphology, geology and life sciences. He is adept at bridging the gap between natural channel restoration and the demands of the urban setting.  Sustainability, cost-effective design and ease of construction characterize Mr. Prager’s practice.


Munsell McPhillips, Ph.D
Technical Team Member

 Munsell McPhillips is a Value Engineering Specialist for Strategic Value Solutions, Inc. Dr. McPhillips has 25 years of experience as a scientist and manager practicing in rapidly developing disciplines. She is experienced in evaluating and modifying processes ranging from material design, regulatory oversight, data collection and analysis to project design and construction. She works with government officials, private firms and stakeholders to identify and resolve barriers to improved technical processes. Throughout her diverse career she has integrated seemingly unrelated streams of information into a more innovative and productive whole. She has a talent for discerning the organizing principle in complex processes whether they are in life sciences, earth sciences or the built environment.

She is extensively published in fields as varied as biomaterials, pharmacology, technology transfer, river restoration, wildlife rehabilitation, watershed management and conservation site design. She is regularly invited to guest lecture in university courses in sustainable architecture, engineering and biology.
